All Worked Up & Selfish

Some people will always remember where they were when Diana died or Lennon was shot or the Shuttle exploded. But none of those events every really resonated for me beyond the feeling of damn... that sucks, does anyone have any cookies left? I know, really deep of me.

But today while reading the latest article by Roger Ebert I realized that when this man dies I am going to feel a profound sense of loss. I can barely comprehend the idea of reading reviews and commentary from someone else and being entertained, challenged and amused in quite the same way.

I am wishing now that I had realized this earlier. I would have made a point of attending his Overlooked Film Festival later this month. As it is I hope he is still here next April for another round.
